Bupivacaine: A maximum dose of 2 mg/kg should not be exceeded in any four-hour period1; not to exceed 175 mg per dose2; In total ≤400 mg/24h.3 Paediatric textbooks advise an upper limit of 0.3 – 0.375 mg/kg/hour (approximately 400 mg/24h in a 45 kg patient).4
Levobupivacaine: Not to exceed 200 mg per dose.2 In total ≤400 mg/24h.3
Ropivacaine: Not to exceed 200 mg per dose.2, 5 In total ≤675 mg/24h.5, 6
